Getting the herd ready for winter

Our approach to keeping condition on through the cold, dry months.
Winter on the highveld is dry rather than wet, and grazing thins out fast. From May we lift hay rations, add a fibre-based conditioner for the older horses and weigh-tape everyone monthly so we catch condition loss early.
Owners receive a short note with their statement each month telling them exactly what their horse is on and whether anything has changed.
